Russian President Vladimir Putin stated today, during a conversation with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, that Russia is ready to take all necessary measures to preserve Syria’s sovereignty.
“We want to do everything possible to ensure that Syria remains, above all, a sovereign, independent, and territorially integral state,” said Putin, according to Izvestia.
He added that Russia is also prepared to provide assistance to the Syrian people, including humanitarian aid.
Putin acknowledged that Syria is facing numerous issues—political, security-related, and economic—Izvestia reported.
The Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is currently on an official visit to Russia.
