Qatar is continuing its mediation efforts between the United States and Iran, with Doha working to exchange messages between the two sides in an effort to narrow differences and find a peaceful solution.
Anjed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Doha was working to “build common ground that brings the views closer together and leads toward a peaceful solution.” He added that Qatar was intensifying efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore full freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Al-Ansari also condemned attacks targeting infrastructure, energy facilities and vessels, warning that such actions threaten the interests of populations and violate principles of international law and good-neighborly relations.
The Qatari official further warned that the continuation of the crisis and instability across the region could directly affect supplies of energy, food and industrial goods, adding to pressure on the global economy.
