An online meeting was held today at the Council of Europe Office in Kosovo between the Ministry of Justice and representatives of the Venice Commission, focusing on the draft opinion regarding the Law on the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council.
The Ministry of Justice was represented by Deputy Minister Vigan Qorrolli, along with Chief of Cabinet and Senior Adviser Genc Nimoni, Legal Department Director Lulzim Beqiri, external expert Rinor Hoxha, and senior officials Lirikë Kamberi and Venera Maksuti.
From the Venice Commission, participants included Taras Pashuk (Secretariat), Jorgen Steen Sorensen (Denmark), Hanna Suchocka (Honorary President, expert), and Janneke Gerards (Netherlands).
According to the Ministry of Justice, Deputy Minister Qorrolli reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing prosecutorial reform, stressing that it aims to strengthen independence, accountability, and efficiency within Kosovo’s prosecution system — essential pillars for rule of law and citizens’ trust in justice institutions.
During the meeting, key aspects of the draft law were presented and discussed in detail, including its drafting process, adoption procedures, challenges, and implementation opportunities.
The Ministry also reiterated its readiness to address any additional recommendations from the Venice Commission, ensuring that the law remains fully aligned with Kosovo’s Constitution and international standards.
