Rainer Rudolph has been appointed as Germany’s new ambassador to Kosovo, the German Embassy in Prishtina confirmed to Radio Kosovo.
Rudolph is a career diplomat with extensive experience in international relations and European policies, reports RTK.
Currently, he serves as Deputy Chairman of the Munich Security Conference – a position he has held since 2023.
Before joining the Security Conference, his last diplomatic post was as Envoy and Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Vienna, where he served until 2023.
Between 2014 and 2019, Rudolph was Head of Division at the German Federal Chancellery, responsible for relations with EU member states, the Union’s enlargement policy, and its external relations.
Earlier in his career, he served in various positions at German embassies in Warsaw (Poland) and Washington D.C. (USA), as well as at Germany’s Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels.
Rudolph is recognized as an expert in EU foreign policy, including neighborhood and enlargement policies. He is also an Associate Fellow at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) – one of Germany’s most influential foreign policy institutes – where he has contributed with analyses and publications.
