The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo continues the recount of ballots in polling stations where the CEC had ordered a review, following the recent snap parliamentary elections.

Spokesperson Valmir Elezi confirmed that the recount has been fully completed in 19 municipalities, while the remaining municipalities are still in the process.

“Since the start of this process on January 13, approximately 49% of polling stations – 1,240 out of 2,557 – have been recounted. The recount is fully completed in 19 municipalities, while around 1,300 polling stations in 19 other municipalities remain,” Elezi stated.

Elezi emphasized that the CEC is working intensively to finalize the recount as quickly as possible and proceed with the announcement of the official election results.

“The Central Election Commission is making every effort to complete the recount of all remaining polling stations so that we can proceed with announcing the final results of the snap parliamentary elections in Kosovo,” Elezi added.

As outlined in Kosovo’s General Elections Law, political parties and candidates have the right to appeal to the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (PZAP). Should disputes persist, the process could continue to the Supreme Court.

Only after the completion of the review, decision-making, and implementation of rulings can the CEC certify the election results, thereby formally concluding the electoral process.
