Russia carried out drone attacks, as well as strikes with cruise and ballistic missiles on Kyiv in the morning of September 2, according to the mayor of the Ukrainian capital.

At least two people were injured, while fires caused by missile fragments have damaged homes and infrastructure.

A building at a water plant, which served as a shelter from bombings in Kyiv, was partially damaged, said Kyiv’s mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko.

He reported that two people were injured in the attack, adding that emergency teams intervened in several districts of Kyiv following the missile debris impact.

Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv Military Administration, stated that over 10 cruise missiles, 10 ballistic missiles, and one drone launched by Russia at Kyiv were destroyed by Ukrainian air defenses.

For about two hours, air raid alerts were issued across Ukraine, and later authorities said that the skies over Ukraine were secure.

Neighboring Poland, a NATO member state, according to Reuters, deployed its aircraft and those of its allies to ensure the safety of its airspace during these attacks.
