Two Ukrainian drones attacked the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil and petrochemical processing complex—one of the largest in Russia—located in the Bashkortostan region, according to regional head Radiy Khabirov.

Ukraine has intensified drone attacks on Russian oil and gas infrastructure since August, following rising frustration in Kyiv over stalled peace talks regarding the war Russia launched against Ukraine in 2022.

The Kremlin considers peace efforts to be on hold.

“We are assessing the damage. Currently, we are extinguishing the fire, and all emergency teams have been deployed,” Khabirov stated on Telegram on September 18.

He added that there were no casualties from the attack and that security personnel at the complex fired at the drones.

The same complex was previously targeted by Ukraine in May 2024. Last week, Ukrainian drones also struck an oil refinery in Ufa, the regional capital of Bashkortostan, located approximately 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
