A Russian drone struck a school in Kyiv on Monday morning, causing a fire and material damage while students were sheltering inside the building at the time of the attack.

Ukrainian authorities said no students were reported injured. Emergency crews were searching the rubble near the damaged building, while security camera footage verified by Reuters showed the moment a fire broke out after the drone struck the third floor.

School principal Valentina Horna said more than 100 students were inside the building when the attack occurred.

Meanwhile, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a major bridge over the Dnieper River was also hit. The Southern Bridge did not suffer significant damage, but metro traffic across it was temporarily suspended.

The attacks came as part of a wave of Russian aerial strikes targeting Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. Ukrainian authorities also reported attacks on energy infrastructure and other facilities in the capital.

The Kyiv Institute for Nuclear Research said it had also been hit by a drone, but reported that radiation levels remained normal.

Another Russian drone was shot down over the National Academy of Sciences in central Kyiv on Monday. One person was killed and several others were injured.
