Russian airstrikes killed three people, including a child, and injured seven others in Kyiv and the surrounding region in the early hours of Wednesday, according to Ukrainian officials.
The Kyiv City Military Administration said two people were killed and four others injured in the capital. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the attacks sparked several fires, including at private homes, a shop and a warehouse.
Meanwhile, Kyiv Regional Governor Tymur Tkachenko said a Russian missile and drone attack killed a child and injured three other people in the region. The strikes also damaged infrastructure, homes, warehouses and vehicles.
In a separate development, Romania and Poland, both neighboring Ukraine and members of the European Union and NATO, scrambled military aircraft to protect their airspace during the Russian attacks on Ukraine, according to statements from the countries’ defense ministries and armed forces on X.
Meanwhile, a Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s Samara region damaged several private homes, Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said. Samara, located about 1,100 kilometers southeast of Moscow, is an important center for oil production and refining in Russia.
