The International Criminal Court (ICC) has condemned the executive order issued by U.S. President Donald Trump, which imposes sanctions on its officials.
The court stated that Trump’s decisions are “designed to undermine its independent and impartial judicial work.”
“The Court stands firmly with its personnel and is committed to continuing to deliver justice and hope for millions of innocent victims of atrocities worldwide, in all situations before it,” the Hague-based court said in its statement.
On Thursday evening, Trump ordered financial sanctions and visa restrictions against ICC officials and their family members who have assisted in investigating American citizens or allies.
This included an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant, who are accused of murder, persecution, and using hunger as a method of warfare in Gaza—charges that Israel rejects.
