A UK coroner’s investigation has concluded that Saudi Prince Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi Al Saud, 29, died from cardiac arrest caused by a fatal combination of alcohol, synthetic drugs, and anti-anxiety medication.
The prince was found dead on November 25, 2025, on the bathroom floor of his room at the luxury Marriott Hotel in Kensington, London, where he had been staying at a rate of approximately £600 per night. An inquest held at the Inner West London Coroner’s Court revealed the toxicology findings and the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to the toxicology report presented during the hearing, the prince’s blood alcohol concentration measured 222 mg per 100 ml—nearly three times the UK’s legal driving limit of 80 mg per 100 ml. Medical experts testified that the alcohol level alone was sufficient to cause severe intoxication or coma.
In addition to alcohol, investigators found fatal levels of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), commonly known as a “party drug,” as well as traces of cannabis, Xanax (alprazolam), and other anti-anxiety medications. Experts concluded that the combination of these substances triggered the fatal cardiac arrest.
Assistant Coroner Jean Harkin recorded a verdict of accidental death (misadventure), stating there was no evidence of third-party involvement or any indication that the prince intended to take his own life.
CCTV footage showed that the 29-year-old had been alone in his hotel room during the night before he was discovered by a housekeeper. Investigators also confirmed that no suicide note was found.
The inquest heard that the prince had a long history of struggling with alcohol and prescription drug dependency. In August 2025, he underwent a detoxification program at the Priory Clinic in Roehampton, a private rehabilitation facility where treatment can cost up to £35,000 per week.
Prince Abdullah was a member of the Saudi royal family and a descendant of the current King Salman’s lineage. Saudi Arabia’s Royal Court confirmed his death, and his funeral was held in Riyadh.
