Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric said that the Serbian delegation, headed by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, with a team of our diplomats in New York, is examining each country and seeing what can be done in the next 48 hours around voting in the United Nations General Assembly on the resolution on Srebrenica.
He emphasized that the pressure that Serbia is facing is great from all the countries that declare and added that in parallel with their lobbying, the efforts of stronger countries than Serbia are continuing.
“African, Asian and Latin American countries also face political blackmail and we use all the credibility we have built through the principled politics we are known for. I expect a tough fight until the last moment and there is no doubt that our delegation will do everything possible to achieve the best result for Serbia”, said Gjuric.
According to him, a month ago the voting of that resolution was a done deal, because no one expected that Serbia would oppose it so strongly.
“We objected to that injustice and the creation of an artificial hierarchy of victims. The co-sponsors of the resolution neither expected nor wanted this scenario. It is certain that things will not go as the authors of this resolution have predicted”, said Gjuriq.
He added that this is not about our attitude towards Bosniaks, but we will not allow anyone to stigmatize us and quarrel with our neighbors.
