A woman from Novi Varoš publicly confronted Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić over an alleged deal made ahead of the 2020 elections, claiming that she had been promised a job in exchange for securing a certain number of votes.
During Vučić’s visit to the town, the woman publicly asked why she had not received the job she claimed had been promised to her.
“In 2020, I was promised that I would get a job. I was told that if I secured a certain number of votes, I would get the job,” she said.
She said she had evidence that she had secured the required votes, while also demanding answers from the officials standing behind Vučić on stage—the acting director of Srbijashume, Krsto Janjušević, and the mayor of Novi Varoš, Branko Bjelić.
“What I want to know is why I did not get that job when it was promised to me,” the woman said.
At first, Vučić tried to appear calm, saying that no one would remove the woman from the gathering and that she had the right to speak.
However, as she continued asking questions, the Serbian president lost his patience. At one point, he interrupted her by asking: “Is that enough now?”
Vučić then attempted to shift responsibility onto local officials.
“Whatever you have with these two, you will resolve with these two. Why didn’t you go to them at the municipality?” he told her.
The woman replied that she had already gone to them, bringing the confrontation to an end.
