Tensions in the Middle East have escalated. Sirens were heard on Monday in Israel after several rockets launched from Lebanon were seen passing over Upper Galilee.
According to the Israeli military, the targets were intercepted by the Iron Dome, but one rocket landed in Kibbutz Ayelet HaShahar in northern Israel, lightly injuring an IDF officer and a soldier, who were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The Israeli Fire and Rescue Authority attempted to extinguish a fire that broke out in the area as a result of the attack.
Reports indicate that Israel is already preparing for the possibility of a prolonged assault, which may include additional rocket launches into Israel over the coming days.
Israel has repeatedly stated that any action against it will be met with retaliation, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserting that “the state of Israel is engaged in a multi-front war against the axis of evil led by Iran.”
Reports of retaliation from Iran and Hezbollah came as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was meeting with security chiefs in Tel Aviv, while Defense Minister Yoav Gallad was holding similar consultations with senior military and defense officials.
