Marko Dimić, deputy member of the Commission for the Review of the Voter Register and a representative of the opposition Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), said that members of the commission had been denied access to certain data after disclosing the number of decisions issued for Serbian citizens voting abroad by country.
Dimić claimed that members of the commission would no longer be able to access information on applications for voting abroad by country, as well as data showing who has access to the voter register.
According to Dimić, the move directly limits powers granted to the commission under Serbia’s Law on the Unified Voter Register.
“This makes it completely clear that the SNS regime and the team obstructing the review of the voter register, led by Ana Brnabić, do not want commission members to uncover irregularities in the voter register and that the obstruction will continue,” Dimić said.
He further alleged that what he described as “manipulations” of the voter register and efforts to obstruct the review were intensifying in the days ahead of elections.
Dimić said he would continue informing the public about what he described as irregularities and attempts to obstruct the commission’s work.
The remarks come as the commission reviews voter-registration data ahead of elections. Earlier on Friday, commission member and lawyer Ognjen Rašuo told Beta that 80,000 decisions had so far been issued concerning Serbian citizens voting abroad.
