Starmer and Trump Hold Phone Call, Discuss War in Ukraine

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer held a telephone conversation on Sunday with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which they discussed the ongoing war in Ukraine, Downing Street confirmed.

According to an official statement, the two leaders also addressed the appointment of Christian Turner as the new UK ambassador to Washington, alongside broader bilateral relations.

Earlier, Ukraine’s chief negotiator Rustem Umerov announced that the Ukrainian delegation would meet again today with U.S. representatives in Miami, where talks have been ongoing since Friday, focusing on efforts to end the war with Russia.

He added that negotiations are proceeding in a constructive and substantive manner, expressing expectations for further progress and practical results.

Meanwhile, U.S. special envoys are also scheduled to meet for a second time today with Russia’s representative, Kirill Dmitriev, as diplomatic efforts to address the conflict continue.
