Sveçla after Weapons Confiscation in North Mitrovica: “No Shelter Left for Criminals”

Acting Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla stated that there is no longer a safe haven for criminals or other elements threatening public security, following the confiscation of several weapons from a basement in central North Mitrovica on Saturday.

Sveçla emphasized the government’s continued commitment to law and order.

“No part of the territory of our Republic remains a shelter for criminals, weapons, or other elements that endanger our country’s security. In the center of North Mitrovica, in the basement of a collective building, two firearms, various types of ammunition, magazines, a gas mask, and handcuffs were found today. We remain committed to law and order, security, and stability for our citizens and for our Republic,” the acting minister wrote.

The Kosovo Police confiscated on Saturday:

  • Automatic rifles
  • Hunting rifles
  • 50 rounds of ammunition
  • Rifle stocks
  • A pair of handcuffs
  • Rifle holders
  • Gas mask with its bag
  • Gun holster
  • 5 empty magazines

The confiscation took place in a basement near Car Lazar Square in North Mitrovica.
