German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has stated that the tariffs warned by US President Donald Trump are “harmful to the US and Europe.”
Scholz expressed hope that a cooperative path could be found between the allies, The Guardian reports.
“Any tariff would be bad for the US and bad for Europe,” Scholz said.
There was also a response from French President Emmanuel Macron, who stated that if Europe’s trade interests are affected, there will be a reaction.
“If we are attacked on the trade front, Europe, as a real power, will have to stand up and, for that reason, respond,” Macron said.
