Marinika Tepić, one of the leading candidates on the “European Serbia” electoral list, said the coalition supports the full alignment of Serbia’s foreign policy with that of the European Union, including the introduction of sanctions against Russia.
Tepić, a senior official of the opposition Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), reiterated the coalition’s position in a post on X, saying its stance on aligning Serbia’s foreign policy with the EU was unequivocal.
“For those acting in good faith who remind us of this — and we thank them — but also for those trolling maliciously: We from the European Serbia coalition ARE in favor of fully aligning Serbia’s foreign policy with the European Union, which also means introducing sanctions against Russia,” Tepić wrote.
She added that the coalition would prefer sanctions specifically targeting Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian oligarchs and individuals it described as responsible for crimes, noting that EU sanctions had been introduced in stages.
“Our position is unequivocal when it comes to having the same foreign policy as Europe,” Tepić said.
The “European Serbia” coalition brings together the Freedom and Justice Party, the Serbia Centre (SRCE) movement and the civic platform Solidarity. The coalition has identified European integration and strengthening the rule of law among its key political priorities.
Serbia has not aligned with EU sanctions against Russia over its war against Ukraine. An EU assessment has repeatedly called for greater alignment with the bloc’s common foreign and security policy, including restrictive measures.
The EU has continued expanding its sanctions regime against Russia in 2026, including measures targeting Russia’s energy, financial and military-industrial sectors.
