U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is in Doha, Qatar, to discuss the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

He spoke about his proposal for the next day in the Palestinian enclave, stating, “I believe we will reach a peace agreement! The ball is in Hamas’ court.”

Blinken emphasized that on Wednesday, Gaza should have a counterproposal for the Palestinians, as “Hamas cannot be defeated solely through military means.”

During a speech at the “Atlantic Council” research institute, Blinken presented a post-conflict plan for the Gaza Strip, which includes the creation of a governmental alternative to Hamas, to be composed of representatives from the Palestinian Authority.

Blinken argued that a political plan is needed to replace Hamas’ rule in Gaza. He stressed that the principles of this plan should be approved in a United Nations Security Council resolution.

At the same time, Blinken did not hesitate to openly criticize the policies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
