The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kreshnik Ahmeti, said that the partner states have been informed about the letter that Kosovo sent to Strasbourg yesterday, through which it said that it is drawing up a draft statute of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority.
Ahmeti said that “the letter was not published without being sent through official channels, so it was first sent through official channels”. With this letter, the Government intends not to miss the opportunity for the country’s membership in the Council of Europe this month.
While the issue of Kosovo has not been included in the agenda of the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Ahmeti said that they can set a new date for membership.
“In the event that there is no political readiness and will to change the agenda in this period that is left for tomorrow, of course the ministerial tomorrow can set a next date when this thing could be done and completed”.
“And this would be a clear sign of moving forward so that we also move forward with our proposal”, said Ahmeti in a joint press conference with the chief diplomat Donika Gërvalla.
