The Speaker of the Parliament of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, said that in the political, geopolitical and security circumstances in which Europe is today, the elections for the European Parliament are more important than ever.
According to Konjufca, these elections are historic, as they will be able to determine the future of the EU, perhaps even in the following decades.
He calls on Albanians who have the right to vote in EU countries to go out and vote for pro-European parties.
Konjufca, in particular, calls on expatriates to vote for Albanian candidates.
In these elections, not only the representatives of the citizens of the member states will be elected in the Parliament, but also the determination of Europe in the protection of its fundamental values, which today are being directly threatened by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, will be proven. Therefore, these elections are historic elections and will be able to determine the future of the EU, perhaps even in the following decades. A European Union unique in protecting the values of freedom, equality, democracy and dignity of peoples and states will be the strongest weapon against invading Russia and fascist ideologies,” wrote Konjufca.
“These elections will not be without influence on our region, which has the only safe path to peace and prosperity through integration into the European Union. Many processes in the Western Balkans will depend on the approach, clarity and readiness of the EU to support its values of freedom and democracy in our region. An equal and fair approach to all will be essential in the final Europeanization of our countries”.
“Therefore, being of this importance, the European elections will not only be important for the member states, but for all of us. Many Albanians who are citizens and have the right to vote in the EU countries should come out and vote in these elections for pro-European parties, but in particular support the Albanian candidates who today compete under the banner of many European parties. Candidates like Muharrem Salihu, Adnan Dibrani and many other Albanians should have the support of our diaspora, as future representatives not only of the interests of our diaspora, but also of our nation and states.
By voting for these candidates, we will bring to the European Parliament representatives who will defend the very principles and interests of Europe, because the pro-Europeanism of Albanians is in our national nature!”.
