Ivica Dacic has stated today that there is Western pressure on the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to take an “irreversible step” towards the formation of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority.
“There is pressure to force Kurt to take an irreversible step towards establishing the Association. What is that step? This is the million dollar question. Should he submit the draft statute to the Constitutional Court? I’m not sure it’s such a big step because the court could just reject it. There is no guarantee that the statute will be accepted”, Dacic told TV Prva.
Whether this will happen or not and whether Kurti can secure entry into the Council of Europe on the basis of this will depend on the determination of the international community, Dacic emphasized.
“33 countries supported it in the Parliamentary Assembly, but now they need 31 votes. The result is close, but if France, Germany and Italy have reserves, there is no chance of going through, nor is it on the agenda yet. The Committee of Ministers is scheduled for May 16 and 17, while the vote will likely take place on May 17,” Dacic recalled.
