“Mothers of Srebrenica”, an organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has thanked the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, for the supportive speech at the United Nations Security Council held in New York on 22.04.2024.
While next to President Osmani at the UN stood four women from Kosovo who have experienced the suffering of the war in Kosovo, Osmani also spoke about the suffering of the victims in Bosnia.
“We are grateful to President Osmani. Her speech about the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, the Albanian victims of the genocide, was heard all over the world. Such speeches will be remembered for generations. Thank you!” – writes in the post of the “Mothers of Srebrenica” on the “X” social network.
The Kosovo delegation, apart from the president Vjosa Osmani, consisted of the survivors of the last war in Kosovo, Vasfije Goodman, Elhame Muqolli, Fahrije Hoti and Shyhrete Tahiri Sulimani.
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, criticized the Kosovo delegation saying that they have no place there.
The chairman of the session, before passing the floor to Osmani, said that this is a protocol of the United Nations.
“Regarding the Kosovo delegation, we have nothing to do with it. This is the protocol of the United Nations, as if we do not show the names of your delegation that is accredited here” – said the leader.
Meanwhile, in her response, President Osmani said that the four women who are sitting behind her, apart from being advocates of justice, are also part of her cabinet.
“I want to inform the members of this Council that in addition to being advocates of justice, the four women sitting behind me are also part of my cabinet. So they are here as part of the team of advisers, because they work on causes that are very important to my heart, such as support for women who are survivors of sexual violence, but also support for families who have suffered from war”- Osmani declared.
