Bekim Jashari, son of the hero Hamëz Jashari, recalled the last words his father spoke to him on the UÇK Epopeya Day.
In a post on Facebook, Bekim shared that just days after the Qirez and Likoshan massacre—an event that deeply affected Hamëz—he asked his father about their remaining arms and ability to resist.
“’How long can we hold out? I don’t know, because they will attack us with everything they have. But I will tell you one thing: As Tahir Meha said, when I die, seven newspapers will write about it… I tell you, the whole world will know what will happen here,’” Bekim Jashari quoted his father, Hamëz.
Bekim continued:
“And that is exactly what happened. The battle of March 5, 6, and 7 in Prekaz shook the conscience of the democratic world and made it impossible for the truth about Kosovo to remain silent. At the same time, it awakened and united the people of Kosovo even more, who mobilized resolutely towards the liberation struggle.”
