The social media platform TikTok, which had been blocked by the Albanian government, has reportedly resumed functionality. Although the official ban remains in effect, users are now able to access TikTok easily, even without the use of a VPN.
The Albanian government’s decision to block TikTok prior to the parliamentary elections was widely interpreted as an act of political censorship, according to A2CNN. The platform’s popularity was so significant that its reopening became a campaign promise from the opposition, led by Sali Berisha.
However, it appears that the promise made by Berisha’s opposition is being fulfilled by the institutions under Edi Rama’s government. With the conclusion of the elections, access to the social media platform has reportedly become even easier for users across Albania.
