Former Dutch Ambassador to Kosovo, Robert Bosch, has stated that Serbia seeks new tensions with Kosovo.

Commenting on the recent restrictions imposed by Serbia on Kosovar citizens at the border with Croatia last week, Bosch claimed that Serbs, along with Russians, want to escalate tensions in Kosovo.

He also mentioned the non-participation of Serbian citizens in Sunday’s elections in northern Kosovo, where Albanian mayors in four municipalities were voted on whether to be dismissed or not.

“Yes, Serbia and their Russian friends want tensions to persist. Another clear sign is the boycott of elections in the north,” Bosch stated in a statement to the newspaper “Bota Sot”.

The diplomat also spoke about Serbia’s military exercises, which the Serbian army is conducting only 30 kilometers away from the Kosovo border.

He called for an international reaction to warn Serbia more forcefully about these exercises.

“The military exercises also aim to create insecurity in Kosovo. KFOR is still a guarantee that they will not go too far. However, the internationals should warn Belgrade in much stronger terms than before. If they continue on this path, there will be no business as usual,” he said to “Bota Sot”.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti accused Serbia of conducting exercises with kamikaze drones just 3 kilometers from the border with Montenegro.

He said that with these actions, Serbia is showing that it is the main actor in destabilizing efforts in the Western Balkans region.

“This is also evidence that Serbia is the authority, the instance, the main actor in destabilizing efforts in the Western Balkans region and poses a threat not only to our unrecognized Republic but also to the security of all citizens in our region,” Kurti said.
