Chris LaCivita, co-director of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent election campaign, will lead Albania’s opposition campaign for the May 11 elections. He was introduced on Monday by Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha in the presence of other opposition leaders and representatives.
“In selecting Chris LaCivita to lead the Democratic Party’s victory campaign, I am certain that our unwavering stance against immense pressure and threats to erase us played a role. The PD and the Albanian opposition have stood firm in defending conservative values shared worldwide. Above all, our current program is a strong plan to save Albania,” Berisha stated, emphasizing his party’s ideological ties with the U.S. Republican Party.
LaCivita, criticizing Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama as a “puppet of George Soros,” declared that “one cannot be both a Soros puppet and a friend of the U.S.—that is impossible. The Soros family has lost influence in Washington and globally, while Berisha is a longtime and genuine friend of the U.S.”
He further stated, “We are here today because we want to elect a prime minister who is a true friend of the United States, who will work successfully with President Trump and the U.S.”
Drawing a parallel between Albania’s political landscape and Trump’s election, LaCivita claimed that Berisha, like Trump, has been unfairly prosecuted and persecuted by a government that disregards democracy. “His allies and opposition leaders are being jailed, placed under house arrest, and intimidated. We are here to help put an end to this,” he concluded.
