U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where discussions focused on recent developments in the Gaza Strip and the issue of Hamas.
Following the meeting, Trump issued a strong public statement, warning that Hamas would be given a “very short period” to disarm. He said that if this does not occur, the group would “experience hell.”
According to reports by Israeli media, the private meeting between the two leaders resulted in an agreement on a two-month deadline for the disarmament of Hamas. Specific criteria for this process were also outlined, including the destruction of the extensive network of underground tunnels built by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
If Hamas refuses to disarm, responsibility for further actions under this plan would shift to Israel and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Trump also emphasized that U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would oversee the implementation of the agreement. He claimed that Hamas had previously agreed to disarm—an assertion denied by Hamas itself—and suggested that other countries supporting the ceasefire agreement could also intervene militarily should Hamas fail to meet the conditions.
