U.S. President Donald Trump announced that European leaders will travel to the United States on Monday or Tuesday to discuss potential ways to end the war in Ukraine.
Trump also stated that he will speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin “soon”, while signaling that his administration is preparing to move into a second phase of sanctions against Moscow.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the move, calling sanctions the “right idea,” and urged European nations to stop purchasing Russian energy.
This development comes as Russia launched its largest aerial bombardment of the war to date, killing four people and striking Ukraine’s main government building in Kyiv for the first time since the conflict began, according to BBC.
