U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy should consider appointing someone else to negotiate on Kyiv’s behalf as Ukraine seeks to end its war with Russia.
“Maybe it’s time for Zelenskyy to find someone else to negotiate,” Trump said, reiterating remarks he made on October 10, when he called for Ukraine to replace its president.
Trump also claimed that Russia had been “good” toward Ukraine, adding that Moscow “hasn’t done much.”
Meanwhile, Trump said the United States continues to share intelligence with Ukraine. He also indicated he would consider allowing Ukrainians to remain in the U.S. under Temporary Protected Status until the war ends.
His latest remarks raise questions about Washington’s approach to peace negotiations and the extent to which Ukraine will be able to determine its own negotiating strategy.
