U.S. President Donald Trump announced today that he plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Hungary to discuss ending the Kremlin’s war in Ukraine. This comes after high-level delegations are scheduled to hold meetings next week.
Trump stated on Truth Social that the U.S. negotiation team will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who also serves as the President’s National Security Advisor, though the exact location for the meeting is yet to be finalized.
“President Putin and I will meet at an agreed location in Budapest, Hungary, to see if we can end this ‘unholy’ war between Russia and Ukraine. I will also meet President Zelensky tomorrow at the Oval Office to discuss my upcoming conversation with President Putin and much more. Significant progress was made in today’s phone call, ” Trump wrote.
Tomorrow, Trump will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House to further coordinate discussions.
