The resignation of Serbian police officers from their duties in the northern part of the country has not diminished the trust of citizens in reporting cases to law enforcement authorities.

This is according to the Deputy Director of Police for the Northern Region, Veton Elshani, during a live appearance on Info Magazine.

“If we compare the statistics from 2022 over a nine-month period with those from 2024, we see more cases being reported by citizens in the northern region now, when there are more non-Serbian officers, than when the majority were Kosovo Serbs. Statistics demonstrate trust,” he stated.

Elshani further emphasized that there is no area in the north where the Kosovo Police does not have access.

“What is very important is that there is no place in the north where we cannot intervene or have access. This is crucial for qualitative case investigations and for fostering a better quality of life in the northern region,” he declared.
