Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk assured that Poland has strong responses to crises, including the potential U.S. tariff war, the Ukraine war, and rising extremism. He emphasized that Poland’s economic strength, military readiness, and firm foreign policy position will enable the country to navigate these challenges without fear.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk responded today to U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of potential tariffs on goods from the European Union, stating that while there is cause for concern, there is no reason for fear. Tusk assured that Poland is prepared with strong responses to crises such as the tariff war, the ongoing war in Ukraine, the rise of extreme right-wing forces and populism, and illegal migration.

“Certainly, recent events are worrying—the announcement by President Trump about tariffs on EU goods, including Poland, the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, the strengthening of pro-Putin radical forces in Europe, and illegal migration. Yes, there are reasons to be concerned, but there is no reason to be afraid,” Tusk said in a video message to Poles on social media.

The Polish Prime Minister emphasized that Poland has a record, dynamic economic growth, a modern and well-armed military, and has regained control over its territorial waters. “We are pursuing a wise but firm migration policy and a strong foreign policy. We have real, authentic leadership in Europe. Everything is in our hands. We are ready for various scenarios. Without fear, but soberly and without complexes,” Tusk added.

Poland currently holds the EU presidency until the end of June, and the central theme of its presidency, “Security, Europe!” prioritizes a comprehensive understanding of security—from military to energy, to food and environmental safety.
