Ukrainian air defense forces have downed 25 out of 38 drones launched by Russia into Ukrainian territory in the early hours of July 25, according to the Air Force.
The drones were destroyed over the regions of Odessa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Sumy, Zhytomyr, and Cherkasy, the announcement said.
According to the Ukrainian military, three drones “disappeared after crossing the Romanian border.”
Romania, a NATO member state, issued a statement saying that phone alerts were sent in Tulcea County, which is on the border with Ukraine, to warn the public about the risk of drone debris falling.
This is the second time in recent days that Romania has issued such a warning.
The escalating use of drones by Russia in its ongoing conflict with Ukraine has heightened tensions in the region, prompting neighboring countries to increase their vigilance. The repeated incursions into Romanian airspace have particularly raised concerns, given Romania’s status as a NATO member, potentially involving the alliance in the conflict.
Ukrainian authorities continue to call for greater international support and advanced air defense systems to counter the increasing drone threats, emphasizing the need for sustained vigilance and cooperation among NATO allies.
