United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned Russia’s largest drone and missile assault on Ukraine since the beginning of the three-year war, RKS News reports.

In an official statement, Guterres described the attack as part of a pattern of large-scale assaults by the Russian Federation and called for a full, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire.

The strikes on Friday cut the last external power connection to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) — the largest in Europe. For more than three hours, the plant had to rely on emergency diesel generators, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Power was later restored, but the incident marks the ninth time since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022 that the plant has lost access to external electricity sources, raising alarm over nuclear safety risks.
