During a meeting with students at the Faculty of Law at “Ismail Qemali” University in Vlorë, Nancy VanHorn, the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in Albania, emphasized the importance of strengthening local efforts to fight corruption and uphold the rule of law in the country.
“As we were on our way to Vlorë today, I was discussing with my colleagues what we can do to help Albania build a culture of integrity, a culture of the rule of law. This shouldn’t just be in universities or police offices, but it should be part of what we do every day. It’s the daily decisions you make that build this culture,” VanHorn said.
Regarding the ongoing justice reform, VanHorn reiterated that it is a collective effort, not just the responsibility of the Special Prosecution Against Corruption (SPAK). She encouraged students to continue their journey in the legal field, assuring them of the full support of the United States.
“Justice reform is the work of everyone, it’s not only SPAK’s job. I encourage you to think about how you can adapt and what you can do in this area. The United States stands with you in this journey,” she added.
