European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has strongly condemned the deadly shooting at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach, describing the incident as a “horrific act of violence” targeting the Jewish community.

Speaking on Sunday, von der Leyen said she was “shocked” by the attack, which has sent shockwaves through Australia and the international community.

“Europe stands with Australia and Jewish communities everywhere. We are united against violence, antisemitism and hatred,” von der Leyen wrote in a statement published on X.

She stressed that the attack must be unequivocally condemned, underscoring the European Union’s firm stance against hate-driven violence and antisemitism.

“This horrific act of violence against the Jewish community must be condemned without hesitation,” she added.

The European Commission President’s remarks reflect growing international concern over rising acts of antisemitism and extremist violence, as global leaders express solidarity with the victims and reaffirm commitments to protecting vulnerable communities.
