The European Union’s special envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Peter Sorensen, met with President Aleksandar Vučić today in Belgrade.
Vučić stated that the first meeting with Sorensen was “open and honest.” However, as usual, he did not reveal what he told Sorensen regarding these issues.
“I informed him about the problems that our people in Kosovo are facing. I expressed my particular concern about the difficult position of Serbs in Kosovo due to the numerous escalated, unilateral, and violent actions taken by Pristina. I also highlighted the continuous obstacles that Pristina is creating in the dialogue process and reiterated that the formation of the Association is a prerequisite for the essential normalization of relations,” Vučić wrote on Instagram, adding:
“I emphasized the expectation that the EU will increase its engagement and play a neutral role in this process. I reiterated Serbia’s position that only constructive dialogue and compromise solutions can contribute to long-term peace and stability in the Western Balkans,” Vučić concluded.
Sorensen’s visit to Serbia follows his visit to Kosovo last week.
