There is compelling evidence that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, through the so-called Serbian Lists, is organizing 500 Serbs across Kosovo to set up tents in front of the Serbian Presidency building. According to several organizations representing Serbs from Kosovo, the goal is to protect the president from anticipated mass protests in the coming days.
The organizations, including the People’s Serbian Movement, the Kosovo National Council “Fatherland,” and the Serbian National Forum, have issued a public letter calling Vučić the greatest traitor in Serbian history.
The groups claim that Vučić is orchestrating the mobilization of 500 Serbs, whose primary mission is to safeguard the president and his seat of government against the mass rally that the Serbian people are planning. These individuals will be well-compensated for their efforts, with food and drink provided. Their arrival in Belgrade is planned for March 12, and the “protection” mission is expected to last at least 25 days, or as long as Vučić deems necessary.
These organizations also criticize Vučić, accusing him of betrayal due to several actions, including the “surrender of Gazivoda,” the establishment of borders, and dismantling parallel Serbian institutions in Kosovo such as the judiciary and police. They claim that over the course of his 12 years in power, between 600 to 800 million euros were invested annually in Kosovo, with the funds seemingly disappearing without accountability. The organizations assert that the military defeat in Banjska and the murder of Oliver Ivanović are also linked to Vučić’s government.
The letter further states that the Serbs of Kosovo, who have been betrayed by the government, should not be the ones protecting it. They warn that defending a traitor could stain the reputation of future generations of Serbs and perpetuate a historical disgrace. These groups urge intellectuals, respected individuals, and patriots to speak out against the manipulation of Serbs from Kosovo and use the influence of the Church, specifically Bishop Teodosije, to prevent further spiritual, moral, and national destruction.
This call to action comes at a time when public sentiment in Serbia is largely against Vučić’s regime, further complicating the political and social situation for Serbs in Kosovo.
