Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated today that the ongoing strategic dialogue between Serbia and the United States will not resolve all issues, particularly regarding Kosovo. However, it signals a positive shift in relations between the two countries.

“Strategic dialogue is not something that will solve problems, especially around Kosovo, but it offers significant opportunities for future governments in Serbia and U.S. administrations. We are a small country for them, but for the first time, they have shown interest in a strategic dialogue with Serbia, which means our relations have changed for the better,” Vučić said during a joint speech with U.S. official Richard Verma.

Richard Verma, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, emphasized that U.S. sanctions against Serbia’s oil company NIS are aimed at Russia, not Serbia.

This development highlights the evolving dynamics of Serbia-U.S. relations amidst broader geopolitical challenges. The strategic dialogue is seen as a step toward fostering greater collaboration, despite unresolved issues such as Kosovo’s status.
