Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin assured Russia that Serbia’s stance towards Russia will remain unchanged despite the resignation of Prime Minister Miloš Vučević amid ongoing protests. In an interview with Russian state media TASS, Vulin claimed that the student protests, supported by the opposition, were orchestrated by Western secret services following a color revolution scenario, similar to uprisings in Ukraine, Georgia, Belarus, and China, reports The Geopost.
Vulin expressed confidence that these protests, aimed at toppling the government, would not succeed in overthrowing President Vučić or jeopardizing the parliamentary majority. He emphasized that the majority of Serbs believe that power should not be transferred through street protests and rejected the idea of Serbia following the Ukrainian Maidan model.
The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated Serbia’s alignment with Russia, highlighting Russia’s support for Serbia during these turbulent times. He also emphasized that the resignation of Vučević should be seen as a moral act and not as a shift in Serbia’s foreign policy. Vulin assured that, under the leadership of President Vučić, Serbia will continue to maintain close relations with Russia, with Serbia standing firmly alongside its ally.
