Protesters from various cities across Kosovo, Albania, and Europe have gathered at Skënderbej Square in Tirana, where the protest titled “Justice for the Liberators” will begin in a few hours.
They are demanding the release of Kosovo’s liberators, arguing that they are being unjustly detained in The Hague.
Sami Hoti from Rugova, Gjakova, said he joined the protest because of the ongoing injustice against the UÇK fighters.
“They must be released as soon as possible because they are being held unjustly. I call on every Albanian — whoever feels Albanian — to join this protest,” he said.
Muhamet Beqiri from Skenderaj declared that everyone, young and old, should be present in this “wonderful square for a just cause.”
“My message, and that of all of us, is that the innocent must be freed as soon as possible. Let those who committed crimes — the UDBA agents who killed and massacred — be punished,” he added.
A protester from Tirana, identified as Aliu, said he was there for the blood of the Albanian martyrs, not for politicians.
“Free the soldiers of the UÇK. I didn’t come for politicians — they are all corrupt — I came for Albanian blood,” he said, as reported by Euronews Albania.
Meanwhile, a citizen from Vushtrri emphasized that injustice is being done to the people of Kosovo:
“If the UÇK is convicted, then the entire Albanian people are being condemned. Thanks to them, Kosovo lives free — our children go to school, we have our police, army, and every achievement we enjoy today. We owe everything to the liberators. Justice must finally prevail.”
He also recalled past injustices, from the UNMIK and EULEX courts to the current Special Court, which he called politically motivated and based on falsified evidence from Serbia.
The protest in Tirana is organized by the Organization of the War Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVL-UÇK).
According to organizers, more than 60 buses departed from Kosovo for this large-scale demonstration.
