During its 123rd plenary session, the Assembly of North Macedonia approved the need to adopt 10 laws through an expedited procedure, all aimed at harmonizing existing legislation with the Law on Senior Management.
The laws include amendments to the Law on the Establishment of the National Agency for European Educational Programmes and Mobility, the Law on Innovation Activity, Scientific-Technological Development and Entrepreneurship, the Law on the Educational Inspectorate, the Law on Pedagogical Service, and the Law on the Bureau for the Development of Education. The package also includes amendments to the Law on Cinematographic Activity, the Law on Protection of Cultural Heritage, the Law on the Rights of Communities Representing Less Than 20% of the Population in the Republic of North Macedonia, the Law on the Inspectorate for the Use of Languages, and the Law on Civil Registry Records.
During the session, MP Skender Rexhepi requested that an item concerning a proposed resolution on respecting judicial-procedure standards in the international trial against former leaders of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo be added to the agenda. Assembly Speaker Afrim Gashi explained that the resolution is already included on the agenda of the 85th plenary session and that a session will be scheduled to consider it once the necessary conditions are met. Rexhepi received support from MPs of the European Front, while coordinator Rina Ajdari criticized Gashi’s handling of the Assembly’s work.
The Assembly also continued the 105th session, where MPs ratified amendments to Protocol 4 concerning the definition of “originating products” and methods of administrative cooperation under the Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Agreement between North Macedonia and the United Kingdom. The amendments follow Decision No. 1/2026 of the Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Council, adopted on January 26, 2026. MPs also approved, without debate, the report on implementation of the 2025 Annual Programme for the Work and Development of the Civil Aviation Agency.
