Gjergj Kastrioti went down in history as one of the greatest generals of the time, an outstanding war and diplomacy strategist of the time, and today we should model his diplomacy, have more friends, more civic and national awareness, in interest of the nation state, peace, dignity and freedom to self-govern as a society with a civilized mindset.
This was said at the scientific symposium which was held at the Albanology Institute in Pristina, where statements were read by various researchers on the new findings about Gjergj Kastrioti. There, the institutions of Albania and Kosovo were asked to draft a special law for our national hero, Gjergj Kastriot.
Professor Arbin Xhata, highly appreciating the work of the national hero, proposes that October 28 be declared a national holiday.
“We have a very interesting and significant proposal from the diaspora, here comes Belisa Jezerci from the symposium and the organizer of the symposium, it is proposed that 28 teori 1458 be declared a national-state holiday after Gjergj Kastrioti was declared king of Albania. This was and I and my friends who are organizers propose that this celebration be held because for the first time Gjergj Kastrioti has been proclaimed king of Albania”, he said.
The director of the Albanological Institute, Lulzim Lajçi, said that Gjergj Kastrioti is the first testament of the orientation of Albanians.
“I feel a moral and intellectual obligation to make an appeal to the highest institutions of the Republic of Albania and the institutions of Kosovo to issue a special law for Gjergj Kastriot Skënderbeu. This law would be drafted by a commission composed of the deputies of the parliament of Albania and the parliament of Kosovo and as a joint law, after approval in both parliaments, it would be implemented in both Albanian states. The issuance of this law would also have its own symbolism.
Brief justification for this law. Gjergj Kastrioti is our national hero, the greatest political and military citizen in the history of forestry, the chief general of all times, founder of the Albanian state and the Albanian Covenant at the national level. His name is associated with the Albanian flag, unity, epic Albanian resistance and an entire era, the Skanderbeg era. Skenderbeu was the first to elaborate the grand vision, the path Albania would follow, from the east or the west. He is the first testament of the orientation of Albanians, without his pro-Western vision we would lose our orientation, our being, so we would disappear in the margins of history or in exhausting and bloody internal conflicts”, he said.
Vlora Gashi from the Movement of Deçan, has said that it is a great blessing for the nation that the powerful strategist who came and became the main hero of our people is a point of reference from generation to generation.
“For 25 years in a row, Gjergj Kastrioti prevented, even stopped the Ottoman expansion towards Europe, stopped the Ottoman Empire from penetrating into its heart, preserving and protecting the Albanians, the homeland and modern civilization… Gjergj Kastrioti entered history as one of the generals greatest of the time, an outstanding strategist of warfare and diplomacy of the time. Today we must model his diplomacy, take a model to have more friends, more civic and national awareness, in the interest of the nation state, peace, dignity and freedom to govern ourselves as a society with a mindset of civilized.
In the Assembly of Legja, Gjergj Kastrioti laid the foundations of the state of the well-organized tree so that today we can build a state with dignity, unite all the remaining parts since then and not allow the foreign anti-Albanian services to divide us , to insult us and divert us from the essence of living as an arboreal nation”, she said.
In this symposium, the work of the hero was also appreciated by many other researchers.
