The state of Arizona has officially recognized February 17 as Kosovo Independence Day, according to an announcement by the Embassy of Kosovo in Washington.
In its statement, the Embassy thanked Katie Hobbs for the official proclamation recognizing February 17 as Kosovo Independence Day in Arizona.
A document released by the Governor’s Office states that “the State of Arizona is honored to stand alongside Albanian Americans across the state in commemorating February 17, 2008, as Kosovo Independence Day.”
The proclamation recalls that “on February 17, 2008, the Republic of Kosovo officially declared independence in Pristina,” describing the moment as a historic step grounded in the principles of sovereignty and self-determination.
