Celebrations in northern France following the national team’s victory over Morocco in the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals ended in tragedy after a 17-year-old girl lost her life when she fell from the back of a truck.
The incident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m., as crowds were celebrating France’s win. According to reports, the teenager fell from the truck as it entered a roundabout and was fatally run over by the vehicle. Emergency responders attempted to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Six minors were reportedly present at the time of the accident. One of them was taken to Maubeuge Hospital in a state of shock.
The truck driver has been taken into police custody, and authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
