Albin Kurti welcomed the approval of Kosovo’s 2026 budget, describing it as a “very good news for the Republic and its citizens.”
In a Facebook post, Kurti noted that the budget should have been approved at the end of last year, but its adoption was only possible now. He thanked all Members of Parliament for their supportive votes, as well as for their remarks and critiques, which will be addressed during the upcoming budget revision.
The approved budget totals approximately €4 billion and includes:
- €867 million allocated to municipalities
- A 13th salary for public sector workers
- Adjustment to double the work experience allowance from 0.25% to 0.50% for the first 15 years
- Postponement of the progressive property tax implementation until the new Property Tax Law is adopted, in consultation with municipalities
Kurti also highlighted increased support for essential medicines, culture, sports, private sector entrepreneurs, farmers, and public infrastructure investments.
“The approval of the 2026 budget strengthens our commitment to public services, economic growth, and social welfare, while addressing the needs of both local communities and national priorities,” Kurti wrote.
The adoption of this budget marks a significant step toward fiscal planning and resource allocation for 2026.
