UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned the escalating situation across the Middle East and urged all member states to uphold their obligations under international law.
“I call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a de-escalation of tensions. Failure to act risks a wider regional conflict with severe consequences for civilians and regional stability. I strongly encourage all parties to return immediately to the negotiating table,” Guterres said.
“I reiterate that there is no sustainable alternative to a peaceful resolution of international disputes, fully in accordance with international law, including the UN Charter,” he concluded.
