U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the strike against Iran was the “last good opportunity” to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Trump delivered remarks from the White House regarding the progress of the military operation against Iran during a ceremony honoring three soldiers with the Medal of Honor.

In his speech, the U.S. president emphasized that the operation will continue until the Iranian nuclear threat is eliminated.

“This was our last good chance to strike so they would not acquire nuclear weapons,” Trump said, adding that if Iran were to possess such weapons, it would be extremely difficult to stop them.

He warned that a nuclear-capable Iran could potentially target sites in Europe.

According to the president, the operation is now in its third day, having begun early Saturday with bombings in Tehran. During the initial strike, he stated, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with several family members and dozens of high-ranking officials, were killed.

Earlier on Monday, Trump did not rule out the possibility of deploying ground troops if deemed necessary. The situation in the region remains tense, with further developments expected.
